AJK College of Arts and Science Coimbatore (Autonomous), an A+ Accredited institution by NAAC, recently organized an industrial visit for students from the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) to Yale IT Skill Hub, located in Coimbatore. This visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure and hands-on learning in emerging areas such as Python OpenCV, Fullstack Development, and UI Development.
The primary goal of this visit was to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications. Students were introduced to the application of computer vision using OpenCV, an open-source computer vision library widely used in the industry. The session offered insights into image processing, face detection, and object recognition, demonstrating how these technologies are applied in various sectors, including surveillance, medical imaging, and augmented reality.
In addition to computer vision, students gained a deeper understanding of Fullstack Development by observing how industries integrate front-end and back-end technologies to build complete web applications. They learned how these systems are developed to be scalable, efficient, and maintainable, providing a real-world context for their studies. The UI Development segment further emphasized the importance of creating intuitive and responsive user interfaces, giving students a comprehensive look at how industries design and implement great user experiences.
Student feedback from the visit was overwhelmingly positive. Many appreciated the hands-on sessions, particularly the real-time demonstrations of Python OpenCV for image processing and facial recognition. The opportunity to work with industry-standard tools and frameworks allowed students to see the direct application of their coursework in the professional world. Some students expressed that they would have liked more time for practical exercises to delve deeper into coding, particularly in the OpenCV session.
This industrial visit not only enhanced students technical skills but also inspired them to explore real-world applications of AI, machine learning, and development technologies. It successfully reinforced AJK College’s commitment to providing industry-relevant education and preparing students for the future.
