AJK College of Arts and Science  Coimbatore (Autonomous), a distinguished A+ accredited institution by NAAC, organized a momentous event on January 24, 2024. The Department of Computer Science with Data Analytics spearheaded an MoU signing ceremony and workshop focusing on “R Programming for Statistical Computing.”

Led by esteemed resource person Dr. P. Johnson Durai Raj, Director of Postulate Info Tech Private Limited Coimbatore, the workshop aimed to familiarize participants with the R programming language’s relevance in statistical computing. Attendees delved into R’s capabilities, from facilitating statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and descriptive statistics to showcasing its power in crafting visually appealing data visualizations.

Emphasis was placed on the importance of re-productivity in research, with R’s support through scripting and documentation highlighted throughout the workshop. As a result, participants gained a basic understanding of R syntax, data structures, and the R environment.

They acquired skills to conduct basic statistical tests, analyse data, and generate various plots and charts to effectively communicate insights, all while learning best practices for organizing and documenting their R code to enhance re-productivity.
