AJK College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore (Autonomous), an A+ accredited institution by NAAC, took a significant step in promoting health awareness by organizing an awareness program titled Let’s Talk about Cancer Awareness and Prevention. This event, held on July 19, 2024, was spearheaded by the college’s Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell. The program aimed to educate students and the community about cancer, its prevention, and the importance of early detection.
The event featured the esteemed presence of Dr. Kannan Maharajan, MBBS, DNB-Radiation Oncology, CCEPC (Palliative Care), Consultant Radiation Oncologist at Royal Care Hospitals, Coimbatore. As the chief guest, Dr. Kannan Maharajan delivered an enlightening talk covering various aspects of cancer, including its risk factors, preventive measures, and the latest advancements in treatment. His expertise and engaging presentation captivated the audience, imparting valuable knowledge that emphasized the importance of cancer awareness and proactive health management
In conjunction with the awareness program, AJKCAS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Valliammal Charitable Trust, Coimbatore. This collaboration aims to enhance the college’s community outreach efforts and provide better support for health-related initiatives. The MoU signifies a commitment to work together on various projects, particularly those focused on health education and cancer prevention, benefitting both students and the larger community.
